The story of "Casa Nunes" is a dream realised by the Nunes Family in wanting to not just go back to their Goan roots and own a piece of Goan history and heritage, but also to share their heritage of this wonderful land of Goa with others.

Away from the cacophony of touristy Goa, Casa Nunes is a serene home epitomizing one word that captures

the essence of  all that is Goa, ‘Susegad’. 

This beautiful Portuguese villa, which dates back to 1934, is tucked within a true Goan village setting

and is its best-kept-secret in the village of Velim near Assolna.

It has been meticulously restored by famed Goan restorer, collector and founder of the internationally renowned Goa Chitra Museum, Mr. Victor Hugo Gomes with the Nunes family coming in to further the restoration.

The villa’s tiled, gabled sky-high roof quietly slopes down to a columned facade with a front-facing traditional balcão -

a quintessentially Portuguese architectural element.  Relax on the heritage rocking chairs and armchairs as you take in the view of the coconut and mango trees, listen to the sound of the swish of the trees as they sway in the breeze, the chirping of birds, spot the occasional Kingfisher bird, the squirrels etc...  Or enjoy a cup of coffee/tea in the courtyard by the traditional well - the pride of a Goan home, while you let the peace and quiet wash over you.  All this adds to the home’s innate charm, creating the most relaxing and indulgent atmosphere, and awarding it a timeless elegance!
